"I am writing to let you know of the outstanding service given my wife and I in the purchase of a house in Richmond this summer. Our Realtor was Alan Au.
Penny and I began looking at houses over the internet from our prior residence in Los Alamos, New Mexico. In the early part of this year we found a house we liked listed with Alan. It was a court ordered sale, and through Alan's involvement we were able to have my mother and sister look at the house prior to our making an offer on it. Even though we were working internationally, Alan Au made every effort to ensure that we knew the implications of the situation of the seller, the court ordered sale procedure and the background on purchasing a house in Canada as first time buyers here. We did not win the bid on this first house.
When we arrived in Vancouver this June on a house hunting trip, we finally had a chance to meet Alan in person as he led us through about 15 houses in Richmond. He arranged viewings had solid information to history and background of the homes. He gave us appropriate feedback on houses we viewed, did not pressure us in any way on any house, and patiently answered our questions about real estate issues.
Alan consistently, professionally and courteously dealt with us over a total of three full days of house visits. He fielded numerous phone calls from us at odd hours and made extra visits to help us carry out the negotiations to completion on our final purchase.
Most notably, Alan was utterly reliable and prompt in returning our calls. We never had to wait more than three minutes after leaving him a page for him to call back. He was never exasperated with us in tone or behaviour (though we had many questions), and we felt that he was truly working with us for our benefit.
Additionally, I want to note that all of this professionalism carried on despite Alan ending up on crutches for much of the time we were working with him.
It was clear that Alan Au really cared about us and the success of our house purchase. We felt served by him, and were impressed at his gentlemanly character.
We ask that this letter of recommendation be put in Alan's portfolio, with our gratitude.
